SKIOLD DM2, DM3 hammer mills are ideal for grinding of animal feed. Supplied with a built-in fan to carry raw and ground material throughout the system, it has the advantage of cooling meal in the process.
A simple but robust mill that can be fitted to most set ups:
- Grinds animal feed
- Capacities up to 1500 Kg an hour
- Conveying capacities up to 80 meters
- Comprehensive range of accessories
- simple maintenance
- Flexible application
Wearing Parts
All wearing parts are easily replaced by original SKIOLD components. These benefit from ongoing research into prolonging durability of parts to achieve quality that minimises the need for servicing.
Milling
The structure of ground material primarily depends on the screen size used, but the type of raw material also plays a significant role. For instance, wheat is easier to grind than barley. Consequently, using the same screen size for both wheat and barley results in a much finer structure for wheat. Additionally, the water content in the grain influences the structure—the more saturated the material, the coarser the structure. Oats, in particular, are challenging to grind and often contain large quantities of whole shell parts after grinding, which can impede the flow of feed through silos.
Conveying
The built in fan enables raw and ground material to be carried throughout the system. The conveying capacity depends on the motor size and number of fan wings in the mill. At installation it should be remembered that the blow action is more powerful than the capacity to suck. The indicated conveying lengths are horizontal lengths. At calculation the vertical ascent should be counted twice and each bend counted as 3 m.
