The SKIOLD Disc Mill® is the result of many years product development and testing, with the object of producing an all-round mill for grinding grain and other crops, with low power consumption, quiet running and minimum dust levels. At the same time the mill should allow automatic adjustment of the degree of grinding during operation to achieve the required fineness and structure of specific feed mixtures for different animal groups or species. The Disc Mill® should also be compact and fit in easily, even with existing plants.
The grinding process takes place between two discs consisting of a number of segments made of tungsten carbide - the same material used for producing cutting tools in the engineering industry. Quality and product-wise, the SKIOLD Disc Mill® meets all the demands made by today's largest and most professional animal producers as well as commercial feed millers.
When grinding normal cleaned grain, the durability of a set of discs ranges from about 5,000 tonnes for the SK 2500, to 10,000 tonnes for the SK 5000 and up to 20,000 tonnes for the PROF 10T, considerably increasing service intervals.
Since each of the SKIOLD Disc Mill® motors are mounted directly on one of the grinding discs, power is used very efficiently in the grinding process. Since the process operates without air, dust emissions are virtually eliminated. Noise levels are an amazingly low 80 dB which is considered quiet running compared to a traditional hammer mill with a noise level between 85 - 90 dB(A).

Feed structure is determined by the required ration, and it is therefore important to be able to control fineness and grinding degree. This is carried out be adjusting the distance between the discs, an operation that is performed either manually, by means of a handle on the front of the mill, or automatically via an actuator controlled directly by the control system of the plant.
By virtue of its compact appearance the SKIOLD Disc Mill® fits easily in both new and existing plants.
Even though each mill is fitted with a strong labyrinth magnet as standard, Danagri-3S recommends the use of a Screen Cleaner as an insurance policy against damage to your Disc Mill due to stones, metal and other foreign bodies which can severely damage the equipment and result in down time periods for repair. | Capacities for the SKIOLD SK 2500, SK 5000 and PROF 10T Disc Mills® |
(Capacity depends on raw material quality, moisture content, and grinding fineness. The indicated capacities were measured in cleaned raw materials with a moisture content of 13-14%.)
