1. ROUGH CLEANING
 Rough and preliminary cleaning is mainly employed when receiving grain, maize, raw rice, and similar products. The idea being that of separating as many impurities as possible in order that the rough cleaned product may be suitable for drying and storage until further processing is undertaken.

2. PRE CLEANING
 Pre-cleaning differs from rough cleaning in that this process may also separate products smaller than the main crop. Pre-cleaning should be divided into two categories:
- Pre-cleaning may replace rough cleaning when receiving a raw material from which, in addition to the large impurities, most of the sand, thin grain and weeds are to be separated.
- Pre-cleaners have capacities ranging from 7.5 to 360 t/h. All these cleaners have effective pre-suction and after suction systems for separation of light products such as chaff, straw, light grain, etc.
On larger models, recirculating air systems are available which also reduce the demand on a filter system.

3. INDUSTRIAL CLEANING
 Industrial cleaning covers all kinds of cleaning of grain and seeds used for industrial purposes, such as malting barley, milling grain and grain for feeding stuffs, rape, sunflower, linseed and maize for oil production, as well as peas and beans for human and animal consumption. There are certain requirements for the commercial quality of these products; in some cases, several types of cleaners may have to be used to attain the required result.

4. FINE CLEANING
 Fine cleaning is the most important process in a seed grain plant, the idea being that of bringing a product to optimal purity, in certain cases right up to 99.9% with a germination capacity acceptable for that product. Effective cleaning and accurate grading tax a cleaner's capability to the utmost so that it must be equipped with the very best screen and air cleaning systems.
